Nope, Im talking about the up and coming rapper called QuESt ( please capitalize the E & S ) hailing from Miami, Florida and he has been tearing up every track he has been on for awhile now. With the help of illroots.com , he has become a very prominent face of the internet driven hip-hop circuit. Before I continue to tell you about him, I’ll let you take a quick listen.

He’s put out mixtapes including Where’s My RhymeBook, The Reinforcements, Broken Headphones ( Download link coming soon ), and the critically acclaimed mixtape, ” Distant Travels Into Soul Theory “. He does, they hit it off, but as with any relationship, there comes trouble. QuESt finds a way to blend a great story into musical form that doesnt have a track in it that can be skipped.

Even though he’s had so much success already, QuESt is far from satisfied. By December ( or early 2010 ) he plans to release another mixtape entitled ” Fear Not Failure” , a collaborative effort with M. Will the Shogun, and a full length album for 2010 entitled ” Maybe Tomorrow “. Expect alot from him, and rest assured that all his new music will be here.

The name J.Cole has been passed around me a few times as one of the best (if not the best) up and coming rappers in this hip-hop recession. Obviously, I wasn’t going to give him any respect, as I had heard very little of his music. But latley the guy has grown on me. Born in Germany, J.Cole moved to Fayetteville, North Carolina at the age of 1. He graduated from St. Johns University, and claims he only went there to someday find a record deal. After releasing his first mixtape, ” The Come Up” ( 2007 ), he was contacted by the one and only Jay-Z to sign onto “Roc-Nation.” Since then, he has released his second mixtape, ” The Warm-Up” (2009), has appeared on “Blueprint 3″ and is expected to release his very own studio album in 2010. So its exciting times in the life of J.Cole, and now is a wonderful time for you to jump on the bandwagon.

Remember that post from earlier about a video from a little group called U-N-I ? Yea, I think its time that you get acquainted with the guys. They ( Y-O and Thurzday ) are a hip-hop duo hailing from Inglewood, California. They were named “Best Breakout LA Artist” at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards and XXL Magazine’s “New Kids in Town”.

They have released three mixtapes / albums so far. Their first being “Fried Chicken & Watermelon” back in 2007. They took a two year break to work on their crafts and have come back strong this year, releasing ” Before there was Love” and “A Love Supreme” mixtapes. Both are solid and you can definitley see their California roots on their tracks. Their most famous song so far, is ” Hollywood Hiatus ” which currently gets plays on MTVU and MTV Jams on occasion. No “thuggery” here, their lyrics consist of partying, living life, and trying to get by as a human. Look for them to be a force in the hip-hop game in the coming years.
