Artist Spotlight: J.Cole

The name J.Cole has been passed around me a few times as one of the best (if not the best) up and coming rappers in this hip-hop recession. Obviously, I wasn’t going to give him any respect, as I had heard very little of his music. But latley the guy has grown on me. Born in Germany, J.Cole moved to Fayetteville, North Carolina at the age of 1. He graduated from St. Johns University, and claims he only went there to someday find a record deal. After releasing his first mixtape, ” The Come Up” ( 2007 ), he was contacted by the one and only Jay-Z to sign onto “Roc-Nation.” Since then, he has released his second mixtape, ” The Warm-Up” (2009), has appeared on “Blueprint 3″ and is expected to release his very own studio album in 2010. So its exciting times in the life of J.Cole, and now is a wonderful time for you to jump on the bandwagon.
